Charlotte, N.C. (October 29, 2016) – Charlotte residents searching for authentic Tex-Mex cuisine will soon have a new Chuy’s location to satisfy their craving. The Austin-based restaurant is set to open this December at 11627 Waverly Center Dr., Matthews, N.C. in the upcoming Waverly development in South Charlotte.
For more than 34 years, Chuy’s has been known for its commitment to using only the freshest ingredients to create authentic dishes inspired by recipes from South Texas, New Mexico and Mexican border towns. Menu favorites include Stuffed Chile Rellenos, Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom Enchiladas and Big As Yo’ Face Burritos. Chuy’s is famous for their hand-rolled tortillas cooked fresh all day on a traditional comal in the dining room and salsa fresca made in small batches throughout the day. The Chuy’s kitchen creates homemade sauces every day, ranging from the mild Tomatillo Sauce to their spicy Hatch Green Chile sauce.
“We are thrilled to open our doors in Waverly this fall,” said Wes Wilkerson, Chuy’s Area Supervisor. “We have been looking to open in South Charlotte for a long time, and are counting down the days until Chuy’s Waverly can serve this great community.”
Diners can expect decor at the Waverly location to feature the restaurant’s signature eclectic atmosphere, such as the “school” of hand-carved wooden fish, hubcaps hanging from the ceiling, and a Chihuahua Bar featuring framed pictures of local dogs.
“Our motto is: If you’ve seen one Chuy’s, you’ve seen one Chuy’s,” said Wilkerson. “Our restaurant here in Waverly will include a lot of local flare, making it a stand-out in the Charlotte restaurant scene.”
Chuy’s Waverly will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner with a weekday happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m., featuring the complimentary Fully-Loaded Nacho Car, an unlimited build-your-own nacho station with chips, salsa, queso, ground sirloin and more.
