Originally built in 1982, Quail Corners Shopping Center contains approximately 113,469 sq ft of building area including two outparcels, but had an outdated look of a “grey battleship.” Crosland Southeast embarked on a redevelopment and rezoning campaign to update the center and reconfigure the site to allow for safer entry and pedestrian circulation within the parking area. In addition, the team worked with a market research firm to host focus groups of neighbors about what they wanted the new center to be and what tenants they would like.
The redevelopment has brought the retailer spaces up to current standards, added a fast food restaurant and provided an outdoor dining plaza area that has attracted more dining options to the center such as Ilios Noche and Umai Sushi, both categories requested by neighbors. The public plaza, facade improvements and the Harris Teeter vestibule expansion were completed in 2013.
