With a significant background in leasing and sales, Peter is passionate about the desired mix of retailers and restaurants which, when integrated with innovative site planning and timeless architectural design, results in exceptional place making. He has participated in the development of over 10 million square feet of retail space throughout the Southeast United States. Prior to the formation of Crosland Southeast, Peter served as President of Crosland Retail where he had supervisory and management responsibility for the company's retail development, management, leasing and acquisition initiatives.

He has over 30 years experience in the shopping center industry and is active on multiple professional and philanthropic boards.

Tim is a Managing Partner of Crosland Southeast and is responsible for strategic growth, management and capital markets. Tim is also very involved operationally in all development and acquisition efforts. Prior to the formation of Crosland Southeast, Mr. Sittema served as President of Crosland Investment Services. From 2005-2009, he served as a Lead Developer for Crosland Retail where he focused on identifying and leading development efforts for new retail and mixed-use opportunities throughout the Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Prior to joining Crosland, Sittema served as President for Sittema Properties, Inc., in Colorado. While there he specialized in retail development projects in the Rocky Mountain States including several complex land assemblage projects. Previously he was a Managing Partner for Sittema-Bullock Realty Partners and Marketing Principal for Trammell Crow Company. Mr. Sittema has over 30 years' experience in the shopping center industry, is married and has 4 children and is very involved in his community and in philanthropic endeavors.

Austin is a founding Partner of Crosland Southeast and is based in Wilmington, North Carolina. Austin leads our grocer-driven and storage investment and development activities. He also leads various mixed-use, master-planned, single-tenant, and medical office projects throughout our geography. Prior to the formation of Crosland Southeast, Austin served as Vice President of Crosland's Retail division and Director of Operations for Crosland's Raleigh-Durham regional office.

He began his career in Atlanta, where he built a diverse resume through development and commercial brokerage experience. In 2003, Austin moved to Charlotte to work closely with former Crosland CEO Todd Mansfield in a special projects role. He found a passion for retail development and joined Crosland's retail division in 2004.

Barry is a Partner of Crosland Southeast and is responsible for the design, development and construction for the company’s wide-ranging, growing portfolio of projects and oversees the design and construction project management team. He brings an impressive international background to the job. Before joining the Crosland Southeast team, he spent 13 years with American Asset Corp. in Charlotte, most recently as executive vice president, where he was responsible for the development of 3.7 million square feet of retail, office and industrial property. Mr. James also was involved in planning 1,000 acres of mixed use projects in North and South Carolina.

Previously, Barry also worked for Transwestern Investment Co., underwriting more than $250 million of acquisitions and $100 million in development projects. As an architect, he also was part of the RTKL Associates team, the award-winning architectural firm that worked on the schematic design, design development and construction documentation for mixed-use and retail projects across the United States as well as in China, Germany, Korea, Spain and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

As Senior Vice President of Capital Markets & Operations, Brent is primarily responsible for sourcing debt and equity for Crosland Southeast’s diverse array of developments and investments. Additionally, Brent is heavily involved in the firm’s day-to-day operations and oversees funds management and investor relations.

Prior to joining Crosland Southeast in 2022, Brent was a Managing Director with JLL Capital Markets where he was responsible for advising institutional commerical real estate clients on balance sheet strategy and entity-level financing solutions as well as originating project-level capital for transactions across the U.S.

John is a Partner of CSE Communities, and is focused on the development of its mixed-income multifamily product. From 2012-2017, John was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership (CMHP), one of the larger not-for-profit developers of mixed-income housing in the Southeast. In addition to his financial responsibilities, John had oversight of CMHP’s development and construction activities. He was heavily involved in the development of a number of federal low-income housing tax credit projects (LIHTC) and the acquisition of other multifamily properties. He was also responsible for the successful financial turnaround of Brightwalk, a sixty-four acre master planned community redevelopment project, in one of Charlotte’s most challenged neighborhoods.

Prior to changing his focus to mixed-income housing, John had a twenty-year history as EVP/CFO of a variety of successful start-ups and turnarounds. These included Clearwire, which grew from an excel spread sheet to its ultimate sale four years later at a market cap value in excess of $17.0 billion, and two other start-ups that went public on NYSE and NASDAQ with market caps at exit well in excess of $1.0 billion.

As a Charlotte-based development associate, Kevin is primarily focused on single-tenant build-to-suit projects throughout the Southeast and is responsible for sourcing and executing on new opportunities for our single-tenant clients. After joining Crosland Southeast in the Spring of 2019, Kevin returned to school to earn his Master’s in Real Estate Finance and Development from UNCC’s Belk College of Business. Since then, Kevin has gone on to supplement his single-tenant responsibilities with additional roles within the Self-Storage Division, where he now serves as one of the primary underwriters for ground-up storage development.

Mike was one of the founding partners of Crosland Southeast in 2011 and focused on single-tenant BTS developments and grocery-anchored retail developments. Prior to the formation of Crosland Southeast, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Crosland's Retail division where he led the company's expansion into Florida. He also has extensive development experience in Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia.

Previously, Mike served as Vice President of Retail Development for Crescent Resources, LLC where he launched a retail division for the Duke Energy subsidiary. While at Crescent, Mike completed 750,000 square feet of retail with an additional 500,000 square feet in predevelopment, including 16 grocery-anchored neighborhood centers. Previously, he was Vice President of Retail Development for Edens & Avant from 1992 to 1999 and prior to that he was an independent consultant in the field of commercial real estate sales and development. He has 40 years experience in the shopping center industry.

Each day is spent managing a variety of these projects from the initial design and permitting phase, all the way through construction and the closeout process. Having started his early career on the construction side of the industry, Nick brings a unique mindset when approaching projects and problem solving.

Prior to joining Crosland Southeast, Nick worked as an Assistant Project Manager for Shelco, LLC, where he was a part of multiple large commercial new construction projects within North and South Carolina. His project experiences range from elementary through collegiate renovations and new builds, to ground up high-rise office towers.

Prior to joining Crosland Southeast, Paul had a 30 year career in the financial industry with the last 17 years at Bank of America. For the last 10 years, he was a Managing Director/ Executive in the Corporate Treasury division with a variety of responsibilities, including structured finance, capital management, chief operating officer, insurable risk management, etc.

Ryan joined the CSE team in 2022 after working with a local general contractor. During his time in the field, he worked on several healthcare projects, most notably the Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center Bed Expansion. His experience in healthcare construction later proved to be helpful during the pandemic, allowing him to successfully complete fast-paced office renovations with limited resources. While attending App State, Ryan’s love for the outdoors drove him to hike extensively throughout the western North Carolina mountains. He regularly returns for backpacking trips in between enjoying the many amenities of life in Charlotte.
